Medicare Advantage – Big Decision During Open Enrollment
Important for people with health problems
A video that will help you. If you have some serious health problems and are going on Medicare you have to decide between Advantage or a Supplement. Medicare advantage plans are very appealing to many folks because of the low premium. I can understand many people going this route, since it is always nice to get something for free, but where have you ever found anything that was free and high quality.
With a medicare supplement you can go to any doctor or hospital in the country. With an advantage plan you have to select your doctor from a list the insurance company provides. Even if your doctor is on this list, in the future the insurance company can remove your doctor, At that point you would have to find a new doctor.
Medicare Part C was designed to keep cost low in an attempt to save Medicare money. But at whose expense? When you first go on Medicare you are in what is called open enrollment. During this 6 month open enrollment period you can choose any medicare insurance you want and the insurance company has to take you. No questions asked.
After your open enrollment period, if you are in an advantage plan and you decide that you want to go to a Medicare Supplement the new company will look at your health history and they are not required to accept you. Do not be fooled thinking that every year you have another open enrollment period. You only have one open enrollment to obtain a quality Medigap Plan like Plan G or Plan N.
