Medicare Supplement Plan N is a great option for people who are looking for comprehensive coverage with some out-of-pocket costs. It's important to note that Plan N is standardized, meaning the benefits remain the same regardless of the insurance company you choose.

Plan N covers 100% of the Part B coinsurance, except for a copayment of up to $20 for certain office visits and up to a $50 copayment for emergency room visits that don't result in inpatient admission.

Additionally, Plan N covers 100% of the Part A coinsurance and hospital costs for up to 365 days after your Original Medicare benefits expire. It also takes care of the copayment or coinsurance for Part A hospice care, the Part A deductible, and pays for the first 3 pints of blood each year.

If you buy a Plan N Supplement, you will be responsible for the Part B deductible ($226 in 2023) before Plan N kicks in for your Part B coinsurance or copayment costs.

The greatest potential costs that you'll have to cover are Medicare Excess Charges which are explained in more detail on our page here.
